Microsoft’s Vision for the Future with Copilot

Artificial Intelligence (AI) is a burgeoning technology with the potential to transform many aspects of our lives, from how we work to our approach to learning. In 2023, Microsoft, a leading figure in the field of AI, unveils an ambitious plan to integrate this cutting-edge technology into its flagship products, namely Windows and Microsoft 365.

AI redefines Windows and Microsoft 365, thanks to a visionary partnership with OpenAI

This initiative is the result of a strategic partnership with OpenAI, a renowned company for its significant contribution to democratizing artificial intelligence through “consumer-facing” services such as ChatGPT and DALL-E.

Indeed, the upcoming major update for Windows 11, named version 22H2, will be rolled out starting from 2023, introducing the much-anticipated Windows Copilot feature. Users who are part of the Windows Insiders program have already had the opportunity to test these new features in advance.

Once this update is installed, users will have the convenience of accessing Microsoft Copilot assistance using the keyboard shortcut “Windows + C.” A side menu will appear, allowing users to ask questions. It is important to note that searches will be conducted through Bing, but Copilot will also have the ability to interact with other applications on your computer. Many applications such as Paint, Outlook, Photos are already prepared to collaborate with Copilot, and third-party developers are gearing up to offer new usage scenarios for their applications.

But that’s not all; this new version of Windows 11 will also bring numerous innovations, such as the new Outlook application (adopting a design closer to the web service), the modernization of File Explorer, and an update to Windows Backup to simplify the backup of your computer, among many other upcoming improvements!

AI Revolution: Artificial intelligence enters the corporate world with Microsoft 365

Microsoft 365 office suite is poised for a major modernization, incorporating significant advances in Microsoft’s artificial intelligence capabilities. For businesses, this evolution will manifest in the introduction of the personal assistant called Microsoft 365 Chat. Similar to Windows 11, its primary mission will be to assist and simplify your professional tasks.

Microsoft 365 Chat promises to bring new functionalities to the office suite. It is essential to note that despite the demonstrations, its deployment is scheduled for November 2023. Ultimately, this professional assistant should be able to assist you in various tasks such as:

  • Document drafting,
  • Summarizing emails and drafting drafts,
  • Rewording entire passages or specific parts,
  • Automatic translation in Word,
  • Formatting presentations in PowerPoint, and more.

While these features may currently seem relatively conventional, it is crucial to imagine the potential they could reach in the near future, especially considering that even our young students are already using ChatGPT in their educational journeys. In the long term, Copilot is intended to revolutionize our approach to writing.

The Advantages and Challenges of AI

Indeed, the advent of artificial intelligence (AI) is a major trend that could fundamentally transform our way of working.

Concerns about the possible disappearance of certain jobs are understandable. However, it seems highly unlikely that these innovations will stop. Therefore, it is our responsibility to accept this reality and master the use of these tools, just as we integrated Google for information search or LinkedIn for job search a few years ago.

The integration of AI into Windows and Office 365 offers numerous potential advantages, including:

  • Enhanced User Experience: AI can be used to personalize the user experience, making products more intuitive and easy to use.
  • Increased Productivity: AI can automate tasks, facilitating more effective collaboration and optimized productivity.
  • Informed Decision-Making: AI can analyze data and identify trends, enabling users to make better decisions.

However, the integration of AI into Windows and Office 365 also poses challenges, including:

  • Data Privacy: AI requires the collection and use of personal data, raising privacy concerns. Regarding Microsoft 365 Chat, the software developer has confirmed that data used to enable Microsoft 365 Chat should not leave the company’s tenant.
  • Bias: AI algorithms can be biased, leading to discriminatory results.
  • Security: AI can be used to create new forms of attacks, requiring the strengthening of system security

In summary, while embracing the opportunities offered by AI, it is imperative to remain vigilant to the associated challenges to ensure an ethical and secure deployment of these innovative technologies.
